Minnequa Works is one of 24 credit unions nationwide chosen to receive funding to expand financial well-being programs for at-risk youth
Minnequa Works Credit Union is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive funding through the National Credit Union Foundation’s At-Risk Youth Financial Well-Being Grant.
Minnequa Works is one of just 24 credit unions nationwide selected for this year’s cohort following the strongest response to a call for applications in the program’s history.
The grant will support Minnequa Works Credit Union’s efforts to expand financial education and financial well-being programming for at-risk youth throughout Southern Colorado. Through community partnerships, engaging financial education experiences, and access to practical financial tools and resources, Minnequa Works will work to help young people build the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to create a stronger financial future.
“We are honored to be selected alongside so many incredible difference-makers in the credit union movement,” said Nathan Cape, CEO of Minnequa Works Credit Union. “This grant gives us an opportunity to expand the impact we can make for young people throughout Southern Colorado. Financial education can create opportunities that last a lifetime, and we are excited to continue finding meaningful ways to empower youth with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to build a strong financial future.”
“A young person’s financial well-being is the throughline that influences nearly every opportunity that follows, from education and employment to housing and long-term stability,” said Lauren Culp, executive director at the National Credit Union Foundation. “What we saw in this grant cycle was extraordinary commitment from 24 credit unions eager to address those challenges in their communities.”
The grant period runs September 30, 2026, through September 30, 2027. Minnequa Works Credit Union joins 23 other credit unions nationwide selected for this year’s cohort.
