Minnequa Works Credit Union and Sangre de Cristo Arts Center Celebrate Opening of MiniWorks at Buell Children’s Museum

Pueblo, CO – Minnequa Works Credit Union and the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center are inviting families and community members to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of MiniWorks, a new interactive financial literacy experience inside the Buell Children’s Museum, on Friday, September 25.

Created through a collaboration between Minnequa Works Credit Union and the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, MiniWorks gives young children an opportunity to explore money, saving, credit unions and everyday financial concepts through play, imagination and hands-on learning.

The exhibit is designed to make financial education approachable and fun while introducing children to concepts that can help build a foundation for healthy financial habits later in life.

“The MiniWorks branch was thoughtfully designed to be engaging, entertaining, and educational for children,” said Melissa Romero, Community Engagement Manager of Minnequa Works Credit Union. “It’s so exciting to see kids stepping into the little credit union, counting money, using the ATM, and exploring books and activities that help them learn about money and finances. It’s never too early to start building those important life skills and developing an understanding of money.”

The community is invited to attend the celebration at the Buell Children’s Museum, located at 210 N. Santa Fe Ave., Pueblo, CO 81003. Minnequa Works Credit Union will provide complimentary museum admission for the first 100 guests beginning at noon, followed by the official ribbon cutting with the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce at 1 p.m.

Event details include:

  • Friday, September 25, 2026
  • Complimentary admission: Beginning at 12 p.m. for the first 100 guests
  • Ribbon cutting: 1 p.m. with the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce
  • Location: Buell Children’s Museum, Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, 210 N. Santa Fe Ave., Pueblo

Families attending the event will have an opportunity to explore the museum, experience MiniWorks and celebrate the addition of a new educational resource designed specifically for younger learners.

For Minnequa Works Credit Union, the project is another extension of its commitment to financial education and empowerment throughout Southern Colorado. By reaching children early and creating positive experiences around money, the credit union hopes MiniWorks will encourage conversations about saving, spending, financial decision-making and the role financial institutions play in a community.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Buell Children’s Museum and are honored to bring this hands-on financial education experience to the community” Romero added. “That is what The Local Difference is about, investing in our community and finding new ways to help the next generation thrive.”
