Pueblo, CO – Grassroots Gravel presented by UCHealth is Pueblo’s own energetic and contagiously welcoming festival and bicycle race held each October. The event attracts thousands of attendees from across the nation and around the world each year, and features a live concert the night before race day that brings celebrated acts to the heart of downtown. This year’s event stage and concert is powered by Minnequa Works Credit Union, and concert entry is free to the community thanks to their generous support.
On Friday, October 9th, two bands will be featured on the Minnequa Works Credit Union stage: The Hardly Nevers, SoCO locals who capture the angsty daydreams of 90’s latchkey kids with a pop-grunge sensibility, turning sticky floor diary entries into swelling basement sounds. Headlining the concert is 2MX2, a seven piece bilingual alterNATIVE rock, hip hop, and Latin fusion band based in Denver, Colorado, with a sound often described as Rage Against the Machine meets Bad Bunny.
In addition to the great music, local food trucks will be selling delicious meals and snacks, Red Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue will be selling beverages, and folks can also donate to support the Beulah Fire Auxiliary.
The concert is just one small piece of the entire Grassroots Gravel race and festival, which features a two-day outdoor expo, a Friday community ride, and the Saturday main event: four race and ride courses ranging from 15 to 113 miles, taking riders on gravel roads throughout Pueblo County. This is a race for everyone, so you’ll see every person and every pace lined up at the start line…pros, first-timers, and back-of-the-pack riders.
A portion of event proceeds each year goes to support the Grassroots Gravel Ride Together Grant as well as a huge range of nonprofits, education, and access initiatives. Beneficiaries and partners include Red Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Boys & Girls Clubs of Pueblo, Palmer Land Conservancy, Beulah Fire Auxiliary, Bicycle Colorado, Adaptive Adventures, and many more.
